CR and Official Assignments
I have finished loading the CCA race calendar into the
www.usac-officials.org website for all races through the end of September. I will load in the Fall cyclocross calendar within the next few days. Please take a moment to login and select the races that you want to work. We need to begin making assignments as soon as possible for the early season races. I do not have the full schedule for the Velodrome yet, so be aware that Track events will need to be added once they establish a calendar of events. As a reminder, please be aware that we have scheduled a Track specific seminar on Feb 4 in Rock Hill to get everyone up to speed on working real Track events. I will add that seminar to the calendar so that when you are making your race requests, you can simply check the seminar if you are planning to attend.
Please note that assignments for NRC/NCC or National Championship events have been assigned by the NTC and RTC, with input from the LA. While I have a list of those assignments, the assigned officials have until this weekend to confirm with Shawn Farrell their acceptance of the national level assignment. Therefore, it would be premature for me to load those assignments at this time. Hopefully, I should be able to load those next week. These assignments include: Presbyterian, US PRO Championships, Gravity Nationals, and parts of Speed Week.
Also, given the fact that we have a SIGNIFICANT number of folks signed up for the Cat C officials clinic this weekend, we need to make sure that those new officials have opportunities to work races once they complete their required apprenticeship events. Granted, most of these folks are planning to work track events only, but there are a few roadies in the bunch. To that end, we will not make every assignment through the end of September at this time. While a couple of you would like to know your assignments for the entire year at this time, many others do not know their work/on call schedules and prefer to wait. So, we will try to schedule first and most of second quarter events now and wait a bit on the later events.
Assignments will be made by a committee consisting of Howard Johnson, Steve Johnson, and myself. In accordance with the assignment guidelines set forth by Shawn Farrell, this committee will assign the full crews to local events. In the past, we only assigned the CR and the CR picked their crew. Going forward, all positions will be assigned by the committee.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.. Please make sure to read Shawn’s Technical Update for January which came out today.

Incentive Program
The program for 2011 is under review and will be posted as soon as it is approved by the CCA Board.
The information below is from the 2010 program and is not in effect for 2012.
- The CCA would reimburse all official license fees, based upon the following qualifications:
- Any official who served as a CR for two events would be reimbursed
- Any official who served as CJ or Motoref for three events would be reimbursed
- Any official who served as AJ or AR for four events would be reimbursed. Note: weekday series races would count as one event
- In 2009, officials must attend a mandatory refresher clinic in order to be eligible for incentive payments. Newly licensed Cat C officials who attended a Cat C official’s clinic in 2009 are exempt from attending a refresher clinic.
- Using the same criteria listed above, the CCA would also provide a $30 clothing/equipment stipend. Therefore, after working two races as the CR, the official would receive the $35 license reimbursement and a $30 clothing/equipment stipend. Officials who work two additional races above their minimum work requirements would receive an additional $50 clothing/equipment subsidy, with which they could purchase a stopwatch, a calculator, voice recorder, etc.
For example: If an official served as a CR for two races, they would receive the $35 license reimbursement and a $30 clothing stipend. If that same official served as a CR for four or more races, they would receive not only the $35 license reimbursement & the $30 clothing stipend, but also an additional $50 for clothing/equipment. The maximum stipend in any one calendar year would be $115 per official.
Positions of greater responsibility would be rewarded, and the plan would encourage officials to work more than just one or two events per year.
- Copies of the CR report for each race would need to be collected and archived by the CCA. Either the secretary or the board member responsible for officials would be the repository for this information and would submit the appropriate check requests to the treasurer for disbursement. Ideally, officials would be reimbursed within 30 days of reaching each reimbursement level. However, consideration could be given to issuing reimbursements on a quarterly basis.
